Tasmania's Population - Dynamic data and Demographic Profiles

The site is maintained by Associate Professor Natalie Jackson and is an initiative of the Demographic Analytical Services Unit in the School of Sociology and Social Work, University of Tasmania.

According to media reports, population change is one of Tasmania's hottest issues. There is seldom a week in which population is not the topic of pronouncements by politicians, in media items or letters to the editors of local papers.

This is not the case in Australia's other States and Territories, where the issue of population is of relatively minor popular interest. So why is Tasmania different in this respect? This web site will answer your questions. It has been established as a forum for Tasmanians to read and learn more about the population dynamics in their state. Feel free to e-mail with small enquiries.
